It's been a long, bumpy road to get this audiobook released. I am extremely thankful to Derek Prior for bringing me on board for this project.
I auditioned for Derek Prior almost 8 months ago for some of the earlier books in the series but lost out to Voice Actor Mike Carnes. I was disappointed that I didn't get the gig but I was extremely happy to be looked at so highly in the selection process.
I went on to narrate a couple of other audiobooks, Dark Remnants (Street Games: Part I) by L.K. Hill and ThornDragon (A Thorn Caller's Destiny, Book 1). Two very fun audiobooks to work on. Shortly after completing ThornDragon I received an email from Derek Prior asking if I still wanted to be a part of the Nameless Dwarf Franchise and narrate one of the audiobooks. I was so thrilled and accepted immediately!
Working with Derek Prior (www.dpprior.com) was amazing! From the start, we began FaceTiming with each other to work out character names, attitudes, personalities, accents and backgrounds so that I could work out each character on a pretty extensive list of characters. We continued to have open communication throughout the entire process.
During the course of this project, we seemed to hit several walls. BUT, we persevered! We worked hard to make this audiobook as perfect as possible! Jill Micai came aboard as our Proof-Listener. She made sure to keep me in line and reading exactly what was on the page and not missing anything. Unfortunately, during the course of acting out a scene my brain added or removed words accidentally. She kept me honed in! Then came Theo Prior (Bloom Audio Music, Theo Prior Design) who helped master our audio and provided us with the perfect sound. He was an invaluable asset to this project. I highly recommend both of these amazing artists for your next project!!
This has been a fantastic book and I'm not just saying that because I'm the narrator. The plots, backgrounds and character depth throughout the book was simply amazing. Whether you prefer to read the book or listen to the audiobook, I highly recommend The Last of the Exalted, as well as any other book written by this outstanding author.
